The Dance Lesson
The Dance Lesson is an oil on canvas painting by the French artist Edgar Degas created around 1879. The first of a series of paintings by Degas in a horizontal, frieze-like format, it draws some inspiration from Japanese prints in its positioning of dancers and musical instruments.
